Brief #2 - Placement And Displacement

The theme of placement "feeling at ease" and displacement "unease" has been a constant of contemporary photography, and usually developed with a particular vocabulary about light and space.


Placement
I feel most "at ease" when im skateboarding or with other skaters, so for this image I wanted to capture a scene that could be viewed through my eyes any given day of the week. Its is of a group of friends that I am very comfortable skating and constantly having a good time with.





Displacement
For this image I have tried to convey the "unease" of silent moments/awkward pauses in conversation that im sure everyone has expreienced at some stage.

Memories assignment

I went looking throught my old skate photos tooking for pictures that brought back fond memories of the early days of me and my friends skating. This image is taken by my mate Jack in Januar 2006 of myself and Jared whilst constructing the mini ramp in his shed. Many a good time was had in the making and of course skating the finnished product.

Jared left my home town of Temora and the ramp had not been used for around four years. Recently he moved back so i asked him if he would be keen to shoot some photos there to show the transition over the years.
