Another day at the office...

Here hopefully is the end of my folio development shoots. I now will have eight images and will hopefully be printing soon enough.
Mia Brill
I tried a a different crop for this image which add variety to the whole set and is also a technique use by my inspirational photographer Cley Enos.
Sarah Wilson
Im i haven't decided which of these two images i will use but im leaning towards the second one as she looks 'joyfully' insane, which is somewhat different to most of my pictures which have been the look of 'angrily' insane.

Final Folio - Progress so far...

So far I have four shots that I am relatively happy with (although the crops, colours etc. of the images below are not my final edits). I have not yet decided whether I will do another four or just another two, then a different topic. I guess it will just depend on if I can come up with more ideas for females 'on the wrong side of the tracks'.

Brief #6 - Inspirational Photographer

Monica Styles - Villain
Vivianne Vongsaly - Hero

Compilation - (Direct bootleg of Clay Enos' Website layout)

Although I am predominantly a skateboarding photographer, I find amazing black and white portraiture of Clay Enos to be very inspiring, especially that of his Watchmen movie series. (http://www.clayenos.com/content/watchmen/watchmenportraits.html)
For my shoot I tried to get a similar look to my own photos by emulating lighting techniques and black and white conversion. Obviously I am no Clay Enos and still need a lot of work to perfect a style as refined as his so for now I am happy to take second best.

Brief #5 - Cultural Identity

For my cultural identity image i have tried to convey the irrelevancy of family backgrounds in a country as diverse and free as Australia. I am of half German and half English background yet no particular traditions of these countries play much in my life today. Use of the hand gestures are of course extremely stereotypical but i have merely used them for artistic effect.

Brief #4 - Jabberwocky

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

-Lewis Carroll (from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)

For this task I chose to interpret the Jabberwocky not as a fictional creature but as a lurking predetor or phsycopath of the night. In the image I tried to reflect on the lines "The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!" and "The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood".

For this image I used a fake film grain filter in photoshop to try and achieve a look similar to that of the original drawings in "Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There", an example of which can be seen below.

Brief #3 - Visualising Music

Regular John - Queens of the Stone Age

Who are you girl?
Who are you boy?
Bet I know what you're up to
Can I come along
Your home number's on the wall
I just had to call, had to
I'm not the only one
Who will run with a knife

Open up your eyes
Open up your room
Open up your arms
One six two seven eight
Two six three seven eight nine
Where's your daddy now
I heard he ran away
Who are you girl?
Cause I'm so bored with myself
Anyway
Any time and any place
I'll just hang around

One six two seven eight
Two six three seven eight nine

Open up your eyes
Open up your room
Open up your arms
Open up your door
Open up your eyes
Open up your room
